Onyx Boox has launched the new Note Mini C, a compact e-paper tablet designed for reading, document processing, and handwritten notes. Weighing about 300 grams, it ships with a stylus and features a color electronic ink screen, with hardware and software both tailored for focused work and reading scenarios.
For the display, the device carries an 8.52-inch E Ink Kaleido 3 color e-paper screen. Displaying black-and-white content, the resolution reaches 2048×1536 with 16 grayscale levels; for color images, the resolution is 1024×768 with up to 4096 colors. The device is equipped with a front reading light with adjustable color temperature for night reading, and features Smooth Refresh technology that makes scrolling smoother, easing the page-turning lag typical of e-paper screens.
On core hardware, the Note Mini C uses an octa-core processor with 6GB of RAM and 6GB of storage, expandable via a Micro-SD card. The system comes with Android 16 preinstalled and natively supports the Google Play store, so users can freely install third-party apps. The 3150mAh battery, combined with the low power consumption of the e-paper screen, delivers long battery life.
The handwriting experience is a key focus of this product. It comes standard with a magnetic Boox InkSight stylus supporting 4096 pressure levels, which attaches to the side of the device for storage, making it easy to grab at any time. The device also includes stereo speakers, a microphone, and a power button with an integrated fingerprint sensor, completing multimedia playback and biometric unlocking.
As for availability, Onyx Boox has opened pre-orders for the Note Mini C at $549.99, with the official launch coming soon.
E ink technology has long outgrown pure e-readers and is extending into more productivity scenarios. The Note Mini C is a product of this trend: its small screen is not a shortcoming but part of the product positioning — shedding the bulk of large-screen devices while serving deep-focus needs such as reading, note-taking, and information organizing.
